One of the UK's most anticipated brass band events, the Brass Factor is a celebration of one of Britain's most traditional and best loved forms of entertainment - the brass band. A vision of founder Alex Bray and fusing the old with the new, Brass Factor takes the humble brass band competition and gives it a talent show twist that is sure to have audiences on the edges of their seats as bands from across Yorkshire compete to be crowned the Brass Factor winner. The concept and motivation behind Brass Factor is growing year on year as more people come on board and believe in the spectacle that is changing the face of brass bands.

How does it work?

Six brass bands compete in the talent show style competition in front of a stellar panel of judges. Each band plays a 20 minute set, pitching the traditional brass band music in a new light. Once all the bands have played, the audience and judges then vote for the band with the Brass Factor!

Raising the profile of brass music and providing junior bands with a platform to showcase their talent, the Brass Factor has had a massive impact since it started in 2010. Each year, Brass Factor helps to raise funds for various charities across the UK.

The Brass Factor is committed to entertaining and investing in the future of brass bands as well as developing a strong cultural awareness of the heritage surrounding the brass band movement throughout the North of England and beyond.

With the focus firmly on the quality of music, the engagement of the audience and the development of young musicians. Brass Factor is also dedicated to raising public awareness and nurturing young talent to grow and develop the competition.

The brain child behind Brass factor, Alex has championed Brass Factor from the beginning and is the drive behind its success. Working with his dedicated team, Alex's invaluable events management and organisational skills have ensured Brass Factor is what it is today. Outside of Brass Factor Alex works in the rail industry and dedicates time to supporting several charities.

Having known Alex for a number of years, as Managing Director at ThinkSmart Marketing in Huddersfield, Mike was ideally placed to help with the Brass Factor branding and marketing. With many years experience of event management and promotion, Mike has mentored Alex since the first Brass Factor, offering event support, advertising, marketing and display collateral.
