About Us

The Concept

Six brass bands compete in the talent show style competition in front of an all-star panel of judges at our Holmfirth and Wetherby venues. Each band is required to play a 20 minute entertainment programme, which slightly varies from your traditional brass band music. Once all the bands have played, the audience and judges then vote to see which brass band has the Brass Factor.

Brass Factor began in 2010 as a concept to help encourage the next generation of brass band players to continue playing for many years to come.  By taking the tradition of brass bands, mixing it with the latest trend in talent show formats, we have created events which have been broken the mould of traditional brass band events.

Our Commitment

With the focus placed firmly on the quality of music, the engagement of the audience and the development of young musicians, Brass Factor places a strong emphasis on public awareness and the nurturing and growth of young talent. Our engaging events strive to invest in the future of brass bands as well as to develop a strong cultural awareness of the heritage surrounding the brass band movement throughout the UK.

The Future's Brass

Raising the profile of brass bands across the UK and providing youth bands with a platform to truly showcase their talent, Brass Factor has been a huge success since it started in 2010. Our vision was always to increase participation of youth bands and in 2018 we launched our first youth Brass Factor. Through more events we are determined and committed to raise the profile of brass bands and provide a much needed platform for future talented musicians. With brass bands severely struggling with a lack of funding and players, we want to break the mould and provide a stage for brass to shine.
